the damp icy weather to join together at the Library on Wednesday afternoon for a discussion of the novel, Water for Elephants
by Sara Gruen led by Fred Fink. The story of life in a circus during the time of The Great Depression was enthusiastically
praised by the members for its well developed characters and the historical significance of the era. There was mayhem,
murder, love triangles, a close look into the life of circus workers and their trained animals. A depiction of the vagaries
of aging was handled with objectivity and humor. The Discussion Group heartily recommends this book to all Library patrons. Seeing by Jose Saramago was discussed Mar. 12. Facilitator: Al Simenson
Piano Tuner by Daniel Mason was discussed in April. Participants pondered the unexpected
ending. Facilitator: Susan Young
